UPSC CDS (Union Public Service Commission Combined Defence Services) is conducted twice every year, usually in February and November and aims to recruit candidates for various branches of the Indian Armed Forces, including the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers' Training Academy (OTA).

UPSC CDS exam consist two stage: written test and personality test.
Written Examination:
The written examination consists of three papers for admission to different academies:
a. For Admission to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA):
- Paper I: English
- Paper II: General Knowledge
b. For Admission to Officers' Training Academy (OTA):
- Paper I: English
- Paper II: General Knowledge
c. For Admission to Air Force Academy (AFA) only:
- Paper III: Elementary Mathematics
The duration of each paper is 2 hours.
Interview/Personality Test:
Candidates who qualify the written examination are shortlisted for the interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
