The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) conducts the Grade A examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Manager across various streams.

The application fee details for the SEBI Grade A 2025 exam are as follows:

  • General and OBC Candidates: ?1000 + GST
  • SC/ST Candidates: ?100 + GST

Eligibility Criteria

For applying for SEBI Grade A 2025, candidates must meet the given eligibility criteria:

Age Limit:

Age should not exceed 30 years, with relaxation for certain categories. Refer to official notification for more details.

Educational Qualification:

  • General Stream: Master’s degree in any discipline, Bachelor’s degree in Law/Engineering, or CA/CS/CFA/CWA.
  • Legal Stream: Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • IT Stream: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or MCA.
  • Research Stream: Master’s degree in Statistics/Economics/Commerce.
  • Official Language Stream: Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the bachelor’s level, or vice versa.

Syllabus of SEBI Grade A Exam 2025

The SEBI Grade A 2025 syllabus is provided below:

Stage 1: Online Screening Test

Paper 1 (Common to All Streams)

1. General Awareness (including Financial Awareness)

Current events of national and international importance, financial markets, banking and insurance, economic policies, union budget, government schemes, stock markets, international financial organizations, SEBI functions and initiatives, recent developments in science and technology.

2. Quantitative Aptitude

Simplification, number series, quadratic equations, data interpretation, time and work, time, speed and distance, simple and compound interest, percentages, profit and loss, averages, ratio and proportion, mixtures and alligations, probability, permutations and combinations.

3. Reasoning Ability

Seating arrangement, puzzles, syllogisms, blood relations, direction sense, coding-decoding, inequalities, input-output, data sufficiency, logical reasoning, statement-conclusion, statement-assumption, cause and effect, decision making.

4. English Language

Reading comprehension, cloze test, para jumbles, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, error detection, sentence connectors, vocabulary (synonyms and antonyms), idioms and phrases, paragraph completion.

Paper 2 (Stream-Specific)

General Stream:

Commerce and accountancy, management, finance, costing, economics, companies act, securities market.

Legal Stream:

Constitutional law, administrative law, law of contracts, company law, securities law, criminal law, law of evidence, law of torts, basic principles of international law.

Information Technology (IT) Stream:

Programming languages (C, C++, Java), data structures, algorithms, databases (SQL, NoSQL), networking concepts, operating systems, web technologies, cybersecurity, software engineering, cloud computing.

Research Stream:

Research methodology, statistical analysis, probability, econometrics, sampling methods, hypothesis testing, index numbers, time series analysis.

Official Language Stream:

Hindi grammar and comprehension, translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, official language act, precise writing, vocabulary, literature in Hindi.

Stage 2: Online Exam

Paper 1 (Common to All Streams)

English Descriptive Test: Essay writing, precis writing, comprehension, formal letter writing.

Paper 2 (Stream-Specific)

General Stream:

Multiple choice questions on subjects - Commerce, Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Companies, Act and Economics.

Legal Stream:

  • Multiple choice questions of one mark each on Specialized subject related to stream.
  • Descriptive Questions of 10 marks each on Specialized subject related to stream.

Information Technology (IT) Stream:

Coding Test (Languages: C++/JAVA/Python)

Research Stream:

Descriptive exam to test practical in depth knowledge and drafting skills in economics, financial markets and statistics.

Official Language Stream:

Descriptive exam to test the in depth knowledge in hindi language.

Stage 3: Interview

No specific syllabus. Candidates will be assessed on their subject knowledge, communication skills, problem-solving ability, and understanding of SEBI’s roles and functions.

Exam Pattern:

Stage 1: Online Screening Test

Paper 1 (Common to all streams):
  • Sections: General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language
  • Total Marks: 100
  • No. of Questions: 80-100 (varies by section)
Paper 2 (Stream-specific):
  • Subjects: Based on stream (e.g., IT, Legal, General, etc.)
  • Total Marks: 100
  • No. of Questions: 50

Stage 2: Online Exam

  • Paper 1: English Descriptive Test (Essay, Precis, Comprehension)

    Marks: 100

  • Paper 2: Stream-specific test

    Marks: 100

Stage 3: Interview
